Weekly WordPress Updates
WordPress is the most popular Content Management System (CMS) in the world because it is very flexible with thousands of themes and plugins that make it possible to develop just about any kind of website you can imagine. It makes it possible for anyone to have a professional and powerful website to run their business.
As an open-source platform, the code for the CMS, plugins, and themes are updated for a variety of reasons to include keeping up with current technology or pushing out security patches or bug fixes. Website owners who don’t keep their WordPress sites updated are vulnerable to website downtime due to code conflicts, viruses, malware, and website hacks.
WP Site Service is dedicated to keeping your site up to date and running smoothly by updating core code, themes, and plugins on a weekly basis. By having us focus on maintaining your website, you can remain focused on your business.
Unlimited Email Technical Support
We provide you with unlimited email technical support should you have questions about your WordPress-powered website. We maintain regular business hours Monday – Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time and do monitor our services on weekends in case of emergency needs from clients. Since most consumers prefer email communications over all other forms of communication, we offer this as our primary communication method. We have a ticket-based system for maintenance requests. You simply log in to your account and navigate to the ticket system to contact us with your questions and a ticket will be opened for your convenience.
24/7/365 Security Monitoring
We use triple-layer security monitoring by combining the power of industry-leading security providers including Sucuri security along with a critical step to hide your login page. Our security layers detect malware and whether your website is blacklisted for any reason by performing a blacklist check with a number of services, like Google Safe Browsing, Norton Safe Web, ESET, etc. Our security check scans the pages on your website and compares the code against the known malware knowledge base. We flag site errors and outdated software.
We also perform page hardening by updating permissions when a plugin or theme coder has set them at a level below optimum security levels. We install failed login rules to prevent brute force attacks and implement a strategy that hides your login pages to significantly reduce the chances of your site being hacked. With our triple-layer security protocols, you can sleep easier knowing that your site is being monitored around the clock.
Vulnerability Scans
We’ve partnered with the fantastic team behind the WPScan Vulnerability Database to bring us real-time information about what plugins are vulnerable so we can act accordingly. WPScan is an open-source WordPress security scanner. We use it to scan your WordPress website for known vulnerabilities within the WordPress core, as well as popular WordPress plugins and themes.
Since this tool is a WordPress black box scanner, it mimics a real attacker. This means it does not rely on any sort of access to your WordPress dashboard or source code to conduct the tests. In other words, if WPScan can find a vulnerability in your WordPress website, so can an attacker. WPScan uses the vulnerability database called wpvulndb.com to check the target for known vulnerabilities. The team which develops WPScan maintains this database. It has an ever-growing list of WordPress core, plugins, and themes vulnerabilities.
If we detect a vulnerability, we will first look to see if the code has been updated to address the issue. If the code has been updated, we will update the code on your site to match. If not, we will report the issue to you in your regular reports and work with you to decide how best to address the issue. This may include contacting the code author to request an update or recommending a replacement tool to address your needs. If you need to switch to a new plugin to address code weaknesses, we can perform the updates for you as part of our service hours offerings.
Database Optimization
We employ a robust optimization tool to clean up your website post revisions and spam comments, as well as overhead. Having too much spam, overhead, and/or post revisions, can increase the weight on your database which will slow down your website over time. Database overhead is space used for temporary storage or storage space that was used before deleting rows. It is a common issue with databases and non-technical WordPress users don’t usually know how to clean up these tables. Over time, this creates database bloat that slows down a website. We clean the database tables regularly which is one of the ways we speed up your website for critical speed performance improvements.
